The Mathematics department was one of the oldest departments of the College. The Computer Studies Unit of this department was created in 2007 to meet the need to equip teacher trainees with technological know-how of the 21st century so that they can integrate ICT into teaching and learning. Adding the computer Studies Unit changed the name from the mathematics and Computer Studies Department. While implementing the 4-Year Bachelor of Education Programmes, the department re-positioned itself and mounted ICT as a specialty (Major) in addition to the Mathematics Major.
The course combinations available to students who offer the 4-Year B.Ed JHS Programme in the department are Mathematics major and ICT minor(Maths/ICT), Mathematics major and Science minor (Maths/Science), ICT major and Maths minor (ICT/Maths), ICT major and Science minor (ICT/Science). The department works tirelessly to equip our student-teachers with a strong foundation in acquiring content and pedagogical skills to enable them to impact society positively.
Currently, the department has twelve lecturers; nine, including one female, handle the mathematics programme, while three manage the ICT programme. The lecturers’ relentless effort over the years has produced the most skilled mathematics and ICT educators in Basic schools in Ghana, who are making significant strides nationwide.
