Frank Kofi Asare

Professional Affiliation: Institute of Internal Auditor Ghana and Institute of Public Accountants.
Frank holds an MBA in Accounting and was first appointed to head the unit in 2014.

  1. Leasing Internal Audit operations to ensure compliance with institutional policies and financial regulations
  2. Advising management on risk mitigation and internal control improvements.
  3. Coordinating audit planning, execution, and reporting across departments.

The Finance Unit of a Akatsi College of Education plays a pivotal role in ensuring the financial health, accountability, and sustainability of the College. Its operations underpins the effective delivery of academic programs, infrastructure development, student services, and compliance with regulatory standards.

The Finance Unit is responsible for planning, managing, and reporting on the college’s financial activities. Its primary objective is to ensure prudent financial stewardship through:

Typically, the Finance Unit is headed by a Finance Officer or Director of Finance, who reports to the College Principal and works closely with the College Council, Internal Audit Unit, and external regulatory bodies such as the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department and the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) and the Ghana Audit Service.

The finance units is moving toward digital transformation, adopting accounting software such QuickBooks, or government-mandated systems like GIFMIS (Ghana Integrated Financial Management Information System) to improve accuracy, efficiency, and transparency.
